Municipal Class Environmental Assessment
Mississauga Road (rr # 1) Improvements From North of Olde Base Line Road to Bush Street and Bush Street (rr#11) From Mississauga Road to East of Winston Churchill Boulevard

The Study

The Regional Municipality of Peel has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for reconstruction and improvements on Mississauga Road (Regional Road 1) from north of Olde Base Line Road to Bush Street and Bush Street from Mississauga Road to east of Winston Churchill Boulevard including Belfountain. The approximate limits of the study area are illustrated on the map.

Mississauga Road is currently a two lane rural road. The study will examine the need and feasibility of reconstruction, changes to road and intersection geometrics and pavement rehabilitation to address issues related to operational deficiencies and storm drainage. The study is not considering increasing the number of lanes on Mississauga Road and Bush Street

The Process

The study is being conducted in accordance with the approved requirements for a Schedule C project as described in the Municipal Engineers Associations Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) document (October 2000, as amended in 2007). The Class EA process will include public review and agency consultation, an evaluation of road improvement alternatives, an assessment of the potential environmental effects of the proposed improvements, and identification of reasonable measures to mitigate any adverse impacts.

Public Open House

Public Consultation

Public consultation is vital to the success of this study and we want to ensure that anyone interested in this study has the opportunity to get involved and provide input. The Region plans to hold two Public Information Centres (PICs) during the study. The PICs will provide background information on the study, comparative analysis of various alternatives and design concept, and the technically preferred alternative and design concept. Representatives from the Region will be present at the PICs to answer questions about the study. Notifications will be provided at the appropriate times by means of a similar advertisement.

Upon completion of the study, an Environmental Study Report will be submitted to the Ministry of the Environment and made available for public review for a period of 30 days. Subject to comments received and the receipt of necessary approvals, the Region intends to proceed with the detailed design and construction of this project.
