Where Does It Go? Councillor Ron Starr will Tell You!

What: Mississauga Ward 6 Councillor and Vice Chair of the Public Works Committee, Ron Starr, will be riding along with waste collectors for a day. In an effort to better understand the waste management process in Peel, Councillor Starr will experience, first-hand, the collection and sorting process beginning at the curbside.
Why: "The success of the Region's waste collection program depends on resident participation and understanding", says Councillor Starr. "Even though resident participation is outstanding in Peel, the collection process remains a mystery to many residents. They don't know who collects the waste or where it goes once it leaves the curb".

Councillor Starr also aims to gain a better understanding of the customer service aspect of the Region's waste collection program, in order to be able to better address residents' inquiries and concerns. "You will never know how difficult someone's job can be until you walk in their shoes. Only then can you answer questions from the public with full knowledge", says Councillor Starr.

When: Thursday, June 16, 9:00 a.m.
Where: Starting point of Ward 6 waste collection route
Northeast corner of Creditview Rd./Brittania Rd., Mississauga, near the Tim Horton's parking lot.
