Peel Paramedics Go for Skills Competition Glory

Peel paramedics are ready and set to win at the national paramedic skills competition in Oshawa on April 9

BRAMPTON, ON. (Apr. 6, 2011) - Peel Paramedics are heading to the NHL skills competition of emergency care in Oshawa on April 9. Two teams will put their skills to the test against EMS teams from across the country at Durham College as part of the National Paramedic Competition.

“We’re proud of the paramedic teams we’re sending,” said Paramedic Chief Peter Dundas. “Their involvement shows how dedicated our paramedics are to continuously improving themselves and putting their best foot forward.”

The annual competition is an opportunity to acknowledge the ongoing medical education and expertise paramedics receive and bring to their patients every day.

“I’m looking forward to testing my skills in a controlled setting as part of a friendly competition against other paramedics from across the country, but we’re definitely looking for the win,” said Peel Regional Paramedic and competitor Jason Tremblay.

Peel’s Primary and Advanced Care Paramedic division competitors are Patrick McColm and Jason Tremblay and Gerard Joseph and Nitin Kumar respectively.

The National Paramedic Competition started as a local paramedic competition in Whitby. Since 2003, teams from across the country have competed in the one day event that puts paramedic skill to the test. Paramedic teams compete in the Advanced Care Paramedic, Primary Care Paramedic and Student Paramedic divisions. For more information, visit paramediccompetition.ca.
