Peelís Active Transportation Study Seeks Your Opinion

BRAMPTON, ON. (April 13, 2011) Ė The Region of Peel will unveil a draft of its Active Transportation Study to the public on April 21 at an open house. The study recommends making all Regional roads and communities favourable for walking, cycling and accessibility.

New proposed policies aim to make communities more accommodating to walking and cycling by:

  • Developing and improving the Regionís process to accommodate active transportation,
  • Implement a cycling and pedestrian network, and
  • Support the development of walkable and bicycle-friendly communities.

Open house:

Date: Thursday, Apr. 21, 2011
Times: 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., presentations at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Location: Brampton City Hall, 1st Floor Atrium. (2 Wellington St. West)

The Active Transportation Study is a first for Peel. Peel worked collectively with area municipalities in a region-wide approach that builds on the studies and plans Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon have done. The Region and the area municipalities are satisfying healthy community and sustainability goals through such work.
