Christmas Holiday Waste Collection and Recycling Centre Information
BRAMPTON, ON. (Dec. 21, 2010) – Residents in Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon are advised that there will be no changes to their waste collection services due to the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Garbage and recycling (blue box and green bin) containers will be collected on regularly scheduled days.
The Region of Peel offers residents a two-week Exemption Period for waste collection from
Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 to Friday, Jan. 7, 2011.
As part of the Two Bag Standard program, the Region of Peel offers three curbside waste collection Exemption Periods each year. During these periods, residents may place unlimited quantities of acceptable waste at the curb on their scheduled waste collection day – no garbage tags required.
Regular drop-off fees apply at all Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) during Exemption Periods.
Community Recycling Centre Holiday Schedule
The Region of Peel’s CRCs will be closed on the following days during the holiday period:
- Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010
- Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010
- Monday, Dec. 27, 2010
- Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011
- In addition, Caledon CRC will be closed on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011
CRCs will operate under regular hours and regular days of the week on all other days during the holiday period.
Christmas Tree Collection
Christmas trees will be collected during the week of Jan. 10, 2011 on regular waste collection days. Residents are asked to remove all outer plastic bags, ornaments, tinsel, nails, wire and the Christmas tree stand. Christmas trees buried in snowbanks may not be picked up. Residents may also drop off their Christmas trees at CRCs – regular drop-off fees will apply.
