Regional Council Proclaims Paramedic Week in Peel
May 15 - 21, 2005

(Brampton) - Peel Regional Council yesterday proclaimed May 15 - 21, 2005, Paramedic Week in Peel. The week recognizes and celebrates the life-saving emergency medical care that paramedics provide, as well as the volunteer work of the Peel Regional Paramedic Neighbourhood Outreach team - a group of volunteer paramedics who are committed to providing information to schools and other community agencies on safety, preparedness and the paramedic profession.

"Paramedics are a crucial link in the community's health and safety," said Peter Dundas, Director of Peel Regional Ambulance Services. "In 2004, over 65 paramedics safely delivered a baby or successfully resuscitated a person whose vital signs were absent — a true testament to the quality of pre-hospital care that paramedics provide to our residents when they need it most."
