Children's Water Awareness Week Proclaimed in Council

(Brampton) - The Region of Peel has issued a proclamation declaring the week of May 26 to June 1, 2005, Children's Water Awareness Week.

During this week, the 10th annual Peel Children's Water Festival will be celebrated at Heart Lake Conservation Area in Brampton. Open to pre-registered students in grades 2-5, the Festival will take place on Thursday, May 26; Friday, May 27; and from Monday, May 30 to Wednesday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. The Festival is designed to ensure students have fun while learning to respect water and the environment through hands-on activities.

Peel residents are invited to attend Community Day at the Festival on Saturday, May 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Looking for fun the whole family will enjoy? Visit the Festival and enjoy the Freddy Fusion Science Magic Show and always popular Birds of Prey Free-Flight Demonstrations; explore dozens of interactive water-related activity centres and give back to nature by participating in a planned trout release and wildflower planting. Admission is free for all visitors on Community Day.

The Festival brings together educators, government, industry and community representatives to inform Peel residents about the water cycle, water efficiency, environmental protection and resource conservation.
