(Brampton) - Did you know one-third of your household waste can be composted in a backyard composter?

Composting is the natural breakdown of organic material, such as food and yard waste, into a soil conditioner called compost. It only takes a few minutes a week to feed your composter organic material. The reward is nutrient-rich compost for flower and vegetable gardens and potted plants.

The Region of Peel sells backyard composters year round for $21.85, tax included, at Region of Peel headquarters at 10 Peel Centre Dr. in Brampton.

Composters can also be purchased at the following locations:

Brampton Recycling Depot

Recycling Avenue and Chrysler Drive
Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Hwy 50 (west side of Hwy 50, south of Hwy 7, and north of Steeles Avenue)
