A Message from the Chair and Chief Administrative Officer
On behalf of Regional Council and the employees of the Region of Peel, we are pleased to provide you with our 2009 Annual Financial Report. This year’s Report celebrates the successes and challenges we experienced in our 35th year of providing Regional government programs and services to residents and businesses in Peel.
In 2009, we celebrated milestones such as the opening of a new building at 10 Peel Centre Drive in Brampton – a large and visible demonstration of our commitment to easily accessible, citizen-focused services. We enthusiastically accepted the challenge and opportunities that came with the Federal-Provincial Infrastructure Stimulus Funding and, despite the economic downturn, we balanced growth and development through prudent fiscally sustainable management of the resources entrusted to us.
This past year, our Region of Peel Council was also pleased to join staff in accepting two prestigious National Quality Institute Canada Awards for Excellence and a Healthy Workplace. Achieving this accreditation reaffirms that Peel is committed to continuous improvement to better serve our community into the future.
Public service is a primary goal of the Region of Peel. As an organization, we are committed to continuously improve client satisfaction, and our 2009 annual Client Satisfaction Survey demonstrated that residents have a high level of satisfaction in the delivery of Peel programs and services.
With the support of our progressive Council, we will continue striving to be a model of successful regional government. Being innovative in our approach and transparent and accountable in our decision making, we will continue to maintain the confidence of the citizens of Peel.
We invite you to read our story.
