Regional Council received a delegation regarding the Tour for Humanity, is a self-contained, mobile classroom designed to inspire and empower people to raise their voices and take action against hate and intolerance. Discrimination is a universal issue that destroys the political, social, economic and cultural foundation on which cities and communities are built. March 21, 2014 was proclaimed the "International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination" in the Region of Peel. It is celebrated worldwide annually and gives the opportunity to pause, reflect and recognize that all people are entitled to equal rights, dignity and respect, regardless of race, in the community.
Regional Council received an update on Peel Paramedic Services Offload Delay. Peter Dundas, Chief and Director, Paramedic Services, Region of Peel and Sonya Pak, Director, Emergency and Urgent Centres, Trillium Health Partners, provided an overview of the initiatives and ongoing relationship with Trillium Health Partners to address offload delays in all hospitals. As of December 2013, results indicated that overall ambulance offload time decreased by 30 per cent at the Credit Valley Hospital; average offload times decreased by almost 15 minutes. Peel is now ranked in the 90th percentile for offload time and has improved by approximately 39 minutes.
Authorization to Hold a Public Meeting on the Mayfield West Phase 2 Settlement Expansion - Regional Official Plan Amendment Application (ROP-14-001) by the Town of Caledon
This Regional Official Plan Amendment application proposes to expand the Mayfield West Rural Service Centre boundary from its current western boundary at Hurontario Street westward to approximately midway between McLaughlin Road and Chinguacousy Road.
The Town of Caledon proposal to expand the Mayfield West Rural Service Centre boundary to include the Mayfield West Phase 2 lands has been circulated to stakeholder agencies for their review and comment. In order to comply with the Planning Act requirements, the Region must hold a Public Meeting in order to move the application forward. Following receipt of comments from internal and external stakeholders and from the general public, Regional staff will bring forward a recommendation report to Regional Council seeking a decision on the application.
A public meeting of Regional Council regarding Mayfield West Phase 2 Settlement Expansion - Regional Official Plan Amendment Application (ROP-14-001) by the Town of Caledon will be held on May 22, 2014 at the Regional Council Chambers, 10 Peel Centre Dr., Brampton at 9:30 a.m.

Amendment to Traffic By-law 15-2013 on Regional Road 7 (Airport Road) in the Vicinity of Caledon East Public School - Town of Caledon, Ward 3
Regional Council approved a recommendation to implement a flashing 40 kilometres per hour speed limit zone on Regional Road 7 (Airport Road) from a point located 30 metres south of Cranston Drive to 55 metres south of Hilltop Drive from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on school days.
The change was requested by the Caledon East Public School Safety Committee in response to the removal of school bus services to some students in September 2014.
Amendment to Traffic By-law 15-2013 on Regional Road 14 (Mayfield Road) in the Vicinity of Mayfield Secondary School - City of Brampton, Ward 9 and Town of Caledon, Ward 2
Regional Council approved a recommendation to implement a flashing 40 kilometres per hour speed limit zone on Regional Road 14 (Mayfield Road) from a point located 480 metres east of Bramalea Road to 150 metres west of Bramalea Road from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on school days.
The Peel District School Board and school principal requested the reduction to the speed limit in the vicinity of Mayfield Secondary School. The Smart Centres shopping plaza (which is new to the area) has recently opened some stores and businesses (including Walmart and McDonalds) and has become a point of destination for students. In addition, a pedestrian signal at the entrance to Mayfield Secondary School will be installed on Mayfield Road to enhance pedestrian safety.
