At the December 7, 2012 Regional Council - Budget meeting, Regional Council approved the 2013 Budget. Council approved an Operating Budget of $1.9 billion and a Capital Budget of $930 million.

Annual Paul Schram Memorial Award Presentation


R. Kent Gillespie, Commissioner of Employee and Business Services and Carroll Francis, Chair, 911 Advisory Group Committee, presented the annual Paul Schram Memorial Award to the 2012 Emergency Communicators of the Year.

This year’s award recipients were: Peter Chamczuk of the Ontario Provincial Police (Caledon Detachment), Hoda Tengler of Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, Wayne Spindler of Amublance Communications and Tammy Clarke of Peel Regional Police.

Regional Chair Kolb and Councillor Palleschi, Chair, Emergency and Protective Services Committee, congratulated the award recipients as well as, all public safety communication professionals who are critical to the continued success of the 9-1-1 service. The presentation was part of 9-1-1 Awareness Week which aims to increase public awareness of the essential services as well as to educate citizens about the appropriate use of the 9-1-1 service.

Request for Proposal Related to Water Main Replacements


Regional Council approved a Request for Proposal for 10 projects related to Watermain replacements, to 11 consulting firms.

The projects are comprised of the installation of various watermains to support development areas in the City of Mississauga, City of Brampton and Town of Caledon, and the replacement of existing watermains in accordance with the State of Good Repair Initiative.

Caregiver First - Expanded Adult Day Services at Sheridan Villa

Regional Council received a report from the Commissioner of Health Services regarding a pilot project to expand services through the Adult Day program services at Sheridan Villa. The pilot project, approved by the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) will include such services as a community client bathing program, aimed to provide relief to caregivers who are unable to manage bathing in their home.
