 Delegations/Presentations
Ontario One Call Service

Regional Council received a presentation from representatives of Enbridge Gas regarding the Ontario One Call service. The current system of contacting various utilities to identify their infrastructure prior to excavating is confusing as there could be up to 14 phone numbers to call and any miscommunication could result in unnecessary damage and destruction. A single phone number would minimize confusion and maximize public safety. Regional Council confirmed its support of the implementation of “Ontario One Call”.

CVC is also collaborating with Peel in the documentation of hazardous materials transported by road, rail and pipeline across the Region. Community-based programs for schools and youth were initiated including “Save theLeopard Frog” campaign.

Paramedic Facility Co-Location with the City of Brampton

Regional Council approved entering into a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Brampton to commence the design and construction of a Fire and Paramedic Satellite Station located at 10797 The Gore Road. The service delivery model will have Paramedics reporting to a Reporting Station and being provided with a vehicle fully equipped by specialized on-site make-ready staff. During their shift, Paramedics will be assigned to Satellite Stations for ready response in the community. Region of Peel staff will continue to seek opportunities for cost sharing arrangements to minimize duplication in the delivery of emergency services and maximize efficiencies.
