Federal-Provincial Infrastructure Stimulus Funding Program - Peel Heritage Complex
 

Regional Council was informed that the Peel Heritage Complex received funding from the Federal-Provincial Infrastructure Stimulus Funding Program to allow for renovations to improve services at the Peel Heritage Complex. 

The key improvements include:
·  Expanding storage for collections not currently displayed.
·  
Expanding the display areas in recently vacated office space in the Peel County Administrative Building .
·  Creating pedestrian access from Main Street
·  
Renovating existing areas for cultural and heritage events and programming.

Appointment of Regional Treasurer
 

Regio nal Council appointed David Bingham as Regional Treasurer.  Mr. Bingham is a Certified Management Accountant with a Masters in Business Administration and more than twenty years of municipal financial experience.  He has been a Director at the Region of Peel since 2001.

Regional Council received information regarding the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) 2008 Annual Report.  The Region of Peel received 104 formal MFIPPA requests and had a response rate of 96.6 per cent, with an overall compliance rate of 100 per cent.  The Region of Peel’s compliance rate is specifically noted in the Provincial Information and Privacy Commissioner’s (IPC) Annual Report.

Terms of Reference for the Intergovernmental Relations Advisory Committee (IRAC)
 

R egional Council approved the formation of the Intergovernmental Relations Advisory Committee (IRAC).  The Committee will convene to address public policy issues which require advocacy at the political level.  The first meeting of the Committee will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.

Members of the Intergovernmental Relations Advisory Committee are Regional Chair Kolb and Councillors E. Moore, M. Morrison, M. Prentice, P. Saito, J. Sanderson and A. Thompson.

Environment, Transportation and Planning Services
Transportation Sustainability Plan for Caledon Community Services
 

Regional Council authorized the donation of two retired wheelchair accessible buses from TransHelp to Caledon Community Services.  Approved for 2010, the 10 Year Capital Program includes the purchase of wheelchair accessible buses to be leased to Caledon Community Services and financed through the Federal Gas Tax funds.

Peel Region Official Plan Review (PROPR) – Draft Regional Official Plan Amendment (ROPA 24) – Places to Prosper - Proposing Changes Related to Growth Management, Employment Lands and Greenbelt Policies
 

Regional Council approved a schedule for a public meeting and information sessions regarding the Regional Official Plan Amendment related to growth management, employment lands and Greenbelt policies. The public meeting will provide opportunity for the public to provide input with respect to the proposed Regional Official Plan Amendment.

The public meeting will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at Region of Peel Headquarters in the Council Chamber.
