Peel Community (Municipal) Immigration Web Portal
 

Regional Council approved entering into an agreement with the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration to develop a municipal immigration web portal as part of the Ministry's ontarioimmigration.ca initiative. The Ontario government has confirmed that the Region will receive $400,917 to develop an immigration web portal in recognition of the important role that municipalities play in integrating newcomers. The web portal will be fully funded by the Ministry and is scheduled to launch in February 2008.

Canada Health Day - May 12, 2007
 

Regional Council proclaimed May 12, 2007 "Canada Health Day". The day will be commemorated through a series of events to recognize the Region's diverse team of health-care employees and their impressive contributions to the delivery of health programs.

Peel Public Health and Long Term Care has a long history of serving the public in the Region of Peel. With the founding of Peel Manor in 1898, Peel Long Term care has been providing assistance to the community for 109 years. Peel Public Health recently celebrated 60 years of services as the original Public Health Unit was formed in 1946.

Management
Corporate Energy Management Update and Energy Conservation Framework
 

Regional Council has adopted, in principle, the Region's Energy Management Plan, which includes goals are to reduce the cost and scale of municipal energy consumption, create a culture of conservation and sustainability, and enhance the Region's energy independence, all in a financially, socially and environmentally responsible manner. The Energy bill validation and verification process continues to ensure accuracy of invoicing with $650,000 in billing recoveries for the 2006 fiscal year. The cost avoidance, rate optimization and billing recoveries over the past three years have resulted in savings of $11.8 million.

Public Works
Local Improvement Project, Proposed Construction of Sanitary Sewers on Creditview Road, Churchville Road and Walnut Road
 

Regional Council approved a Local Project on Creditview Road, Churchville Road and Walnut Road for the construction of a sanitary sewer approximately 3,200 meters in length. The total estimated cost of the project is $2,756,250.

Tullamore Reservoir and Pumping Station
 

Regional Council approved the awarding of a contract for consulting services for Design and Contract Administration services for the Tullamore Reservoir and Pumping Station to the consulting engineering firm KMK Consultants Limited at an estimated cost of $1,832,805.
