 Proclamations
  9-1-1 Awareness Week - December 6 - 12, 2004
 

Regional Council proclaimed the week of December 6 to 12, 2004 as "9-1-1 Awareness Week" in the Region of Peel, as requested by the Ambulance and Emergency Programs Division of Corporate Services.

9-1-1 Awareness Week will help educate the public about the appropriate use of the 9-1-1 emergency number system.

As part of the 9-1-1 Awareness Week events, Emergency Communicators will be commended for their dedication and commitment to public safety. The Paul Schram Memorial Award for Emergency Communicator of the Year will be presented by Regional Council at its meeting scheduled for December 9, 2004.

  Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day - November 17, 2004
 

Regional Council proclaimed November 17, 2004 as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day in the Region of Peel, as requested by the Planning Department.

This day will promote awareness of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as an enabling technology. GIS is a system of hardware and software used for storage, retrieval, mapping, and analysis of geographic data.

  Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month, October 2004
 

Regional Council proclaimed the month of October, 2004 as "Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month" in the Region of Peel, as requested by the Health and Social Services Departments.

Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month will raise public education and prevention to end the neglect and abuse of children in our society.

 Human Services
  Provincial Energy Emergency Fund and Share the Warmth (STW)
 

Regional Council has approved the one time payment of $169,603 from Peel's Provincial Energy Emergency Fund to the not-for-profit Share the Warmth Program (STW).

Share the Warmth Program is a not-for-profit charity that provides energy assistance to low-income households threatened with the possibility of homelessness due to an emergency situation.
