Request from the Peel Police Services Board (PPSB) for an Upgrade to the Existing VCOM System
 

Regional Council supported a recommendation from the Peel Police Services Board (PPSB) recommending that authority be granted to enter into direct negotiations with Motorola to upgrade the vehicle communication (VCOM system.

It is expected that the upgrade from the current Motorola Smartzone 2.03 system to Smartzone 4.1 will expand the life of the VCOM system to the year 2014.

Intersection Safety Program to Reduce Red Light Running, Project Update, Capital Project 02-4455 - City of Brampton and City of Mississauga, All Wards
 

Regional Council is requesting the Government of Ontario, through the Ministry of Transportation to extend the red-light camera legislation (Bill 102, as amended by Bill 149) prior to November 20, 2004, for an indefinite period of time.

In the event that the Government of Ontario extends the red-light camera legislation, approval to extend the existing contract with Affiliated Computer Systems was given for a fifth year.

The red-light camera pilot project has been an effective tool in reducing fatal and injury collisions.

Beckett Sproule Facility Upgrades, Capital Projects 02-1920, 03-1912, 04-1945, 04-1990, 04-1997 and 04-1998, Document 2004-172P - City of Brampton, Ward 3
 

Regional Council awarded Document 2004-172P for consulting services for the design and contract administration services for upgrades to the Beckett Sproule Pumping Station and Reservoir, to the consulting engineering firm KMK Consultants Limited for an estimated cost of $1,464,892, (excluding applicable taxes), under Capital Projects 02-1920, 03-1912, 04-1945, 04-1990, 04-1997 and 04-1998 in accordance with Purchasing By-law 62-2001.

The Beckett Sproule facility is a key facility in servicing demands for the Region of Peel and the York/Peel servicing agreement.

Auto Dealership Alternate Vehicle Access at Battleford Community Recycling Centre, Capital Project 04-6271 - City of Mississauga, Ward 6
 

Regional Council approved the construction of a joint north-bound right turn lane for a right-in/right-out access on Erin Mills Parkway, south of Battlefield Road to permit access from Erin Mills Parkway to two existing auto dealerships, as an alternative to the existing Battleford Road entrances.

The additional access will help resolve traffic access issues that the auto dealerships have experienced through their current dedicated access off Battleford Road.

The total estimated cost for the joint access is $200,000.

Human Services
Environmental Health Information Management System Acquisition
 

Regional Council awarded Document 2003-661P, for the supply of an information Management System to Decade Software Canada Limited in the amount of $277,696.50, (excluding applicable taxes) for a three year period in accordance with Purchasing By-law 62-2001.

In October, 2002 Regional Council endorsed development of a food safety performance disclosure program for the Region of Peel, including implementation of a new management information system.

A new Management Information System is required to support a food disclosure program and generate more reliable and comprehensive information.
