Blue Box Band Performs for Members of Regional Council
 

At the Regional General Committee meeting on Thursday, June 17, 2004, five grade six students and teacher Barb Jensen from Credit View Public School in the Town of Caledon visited the Region of Peel to showcase their rhythm and percussion skills using blue boxes donated by the Region. The band mixed percussion with song to deliver some realistic environmental messages.
Barbara Jensen, also the Conductor of the Blue Box Band, provided a brief history of the band and thanked members of Regional Council for providing the Blue Boxes.

Smoking Isn't Kool (SIK.ca), a Youth Tobacco-Use Prevention Program in Peel Health
 

Smoking Isn't Kool (SIK.ca), a Youth Tobacco-Use Prevention Program consisting of students from John Fraser Secondary School and Fletcher's Creek Senior Public School thanked members of Regional Council for going smoke-free and requested Council's continued support of higher taxes on cigarettes and smoke-free public places with no designated smoking rooms (DSRs) to help make Ontario Smoke free.

Appointment to the William Osler Health Care Centre Board of Directors
 

Regional Council appointed Councillor Paul Palleschi to serve on the William Osler Health Care Centre Board of Directors for the term commencing on July 1, 2004 and ending on the date of the Health Care Centre's Annual General Meeting, or until a successor is appointed by Regional Council.

Long Term Care Medical Lifting Equipment
 

Regional Council authorized the Long Term Care Division to enter through direct negotiation into a three year contract with BHM Medical Inc. (formerly Medi-Man) for the supply of Medi-Man resident lifts and slings, including a training and preventative maintenance package for an estimated total cost of $275,000, (excluding applicable taxes). Currently, BHM Medical Inc. is the only supplier of Medi-Man lifts and provides satisfactory service for maintenance and repair needs, replacement equipment, customer relations and training needs.

The Minimal Lift Program is a Long Term Care Division-wide initiative to decrease the number of resident and staff injuries attributed to lifting, transferring, repositioning and bathing procedures.

Contracting Services for Cured in Place Pipe Lining at Various Locations in the Region of Peel, Capital Projects 03-2381, 03-2382, 04-2381 and 04-2382, Document 2004-104P - City of Mississauga, Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 and City of Brampton, Wards 3, 4, 5 and 8
 

Regional Council awarded contracting services for year one of a three year contract for the Cured in Place Pipe Lining program at various locations in the Region of Peel to Insituform Technologies Limited at a total estimated cost of $5,035,000 (excluding applicable taxes). Years two and three are to be awarded based on satisfactory performance during the prior year of the contract.

Hydrogeological and Geotechnical Report, Detailed Design and Contract Administration of the Credit Valley Trunk Sanitary Sewer from Highway 401 to Steeles Avenue, Capital Project 01-2930, Document 2004-108P - City of Brampton, Ward 6 and City of Mississauga, Ward 6
 

Regional Council awarded a contract to MacViro Consultants Incorporated at an estimated cost of $2,122,030 (excluding applicable taxes), for the provision of a Hydrogeological and Geotechnical report, detailed design, contract administration and inspection services for the Credit Valley Trunk Sanitary Sewer from Highway 401 to Steeles Avenue.

The project is intended to be completed in two phases; Phase I from Highway 401 to Steeles Avenue and Phase II from Steeles Avenue to Queen Street.

The Credit Valley Trunk Sanitary Sewer Extension from Highway 401 to Steeles Avenue is required to provide servicing capabilities for approximately 3,158 ha (7,804 acres) of land currently designated for urban growth within the Region of Peel Official Plan.
