Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001 Accessibility Advisory Committee Appointment of New Members
 

Regional Council approved a resolution subject to the approval of the Council of the Town of Caledon, that the Terms of Reference for the Joint Peel-Caledon Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) be amended to reflect a total of seven non-elected members, an increase of one, and that Naz Husain and William Goursky be appointed to the Joint Peel-Caledon Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) for a term ending December 31, 2004.

Intersection Safety Program to Reduce Red-Light Running - Project Update, Capital Project 02-4455
 

Regional Council approved a resolution that the Government of Ontario, through the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, be requested to extend the red-light camera legislation (Bill 102, as amended by Bill 149) for an indefinite period to provide the Region of Peel the option to operate red-light cameras beyond November 2004.

Mullet Creek Pumping Station and Sanitary Trunk Sewers, Capital Project 03-2982 and Capital Project 03-2151, Document 2003-506P - City of Brampton, Ward 6 and City of Mississauga, Ward 9
 

Regional Council approved and awarded the contract for design and contract administration services for the Mullet Creek Pumping Station and Sanitary Trunk Sewers to the consulting engineering firm MacViro Consultants Incorporated for an estimated total cost of $475,622 in accordance with Purchasing By-law 62-2001.

Updated Community Plan to Address Homelessness in the Region of Peel
 

Regional Council approved the updated Community Support Plan to address homelessness in the Region of Peel. The updated plan will be forwarded to all area MPs and MPPs for their information.

Transport Minister David Collenette Announces the Successful Respondent to Provide Toronto Air Rail Link Service
 

Regional Council received a report from the Commissioner of Planning titled "Transport Minister David Collenette Announces the Successful Respondent to Provide Toronto Air Rail Link Service". The report stated that the Union Pearson AirLink Group has been selected as the successful respondent to finance, design, construct, operate and maintain the air-rail link connecting Toronto's Lester B. Pearson International Airport and Union Station.

The Air Rail Link is expected to provide frequent and fast rail service from Union Station to Pearson International Airport, operating on the Georgetown line and on a "new" spur line to be constructed into the airport. Staff will continue to report to Council as new information becomes available.

Revised Parking Prohibition - Belfountain, Regional Road 1 (Mississauga Road) and Regional Road 11 (Bush Street) - Town of Caledon, Ward 1
 

Regional Council passed By-law 91-2003 to delete the existing parking prohibition on the east side of Regional Road 1 (Mississauga Road) from a point 200 metres south of Regional Road 11 (Bush Street) to Regional Road 11 (Bush Street), and to delete the parking prohibition on the south side of Regional Road 11 (Bush Street) from a point located 50 metres west of Regional Road 1 (Mississauga Road) to Shaw's Creek Road.

Council further directed that a working group be set up with representatives from Belfountain residents, Belfountain Business Owners, the Belfountain Community Planning Organization, the Ontario Provincial Police, Town of Caledon staff, elected officials and Region of Peel staff to discuss future enhancement within the Belfountain area.
