The following are decisions made by Regional Council on Thursday, October 5, 2000.

 Delegations/Staff Presentations
  Assistance to the Town of Walkerton Acknowledged
  The following staff from the Public Works department were congratulated for their assistance in restoring the water supply in the Town of Walkerton: Greg Stevenson, Gord Grosvenor, Charles Hayward, Roger Crane and Steve Hunter.

  Regional Council Endorses Use of Photo Radar
  Regional Council, in an effort to reduce injuries and death caused by speeding throughout the Region of Peel, fully endorsed a recommendation to petition the Ontario Government to reinstate the use of photo radar on Ontario's Highways.

  Banking Services Awarded to Royal Bank
  Regional Council awarded a five year contract to the Royal Bank of Canada to provide Banking services to the Region of Peel. Per annum, the estimated cost of this service will be $175,000.

 Human Services
  Initiatives to Support Youth Receive Funding
  Regional Council approved funding for eight initiatives to support youth programs throughout the Region of Peel. The total cost of this collaborative effort is $296,700.

  Petition to Retain Respite Beds
  Regional Council supported a resolution to petition the Ontario Ministry of Health to continue funding to the Davis Centre (Town of Caledon) after new facilities are erected in the City of Brampton and City of Mississauga. This petition was put forward in recognition of the need for recovery beds in the Region and the ongoing demands of Hospital Emergency Rooms within the Greater Toronto Area.

 Public Works
  Pavement Marking Contract Extended
  Regional Council extended its current contract with Metro Pavement Markings Ltd. for the next three years based on the company's satisfactory performance and service. Approximated costs of this service will be $485,000 for the next 12 month period.

  Initiatives for Promoting Waste Diversion
  Regional Council, in accordance with the Long Term Waste Resource Management Strategy, endorsed the continuing effort to promote the benefits of waste diversion throughout the Region and has requested that council be updated on an annual basis on the progress of the program. Also, Regional Council stated it would not enter into any future disposal contracts that would inhibit the use of alternative diversion methods.

  Elimination of Parking or Stopping in the Vicinity of Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School, Old Church Road, Town of Caledon
  Regional Council proposed measures to satisfy traffic and safety concerns in the area surrounding Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School, Old Church Road in the Town of Caledon. In an effort to improve the situation, parking or stopping on Old Church Road within a 1,000 feet radius of Innis Lake Road will be prohibited from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
