It’s that time of year again!
It's that time of year when Back–to–School is on most of our minds. We've pulled together a few tips to help make the switch from the lazy days of summer to the routine of a new school year easier.
- Provide a balanced lunch for your kids – it will give them the nutrition and energy needed throughout the day. Healthy foods from all the food groups along with snacks they enjoy are key to ensuring they eat right and are building healthy habits.
- Save money by including reusable items such as water bottles and containers in lunches. Packaged foods and drinks are not only bad for the environment, but can also get costly when preparing lunches all year long.
- Remind your kids about staying safe when they're walking to school by practicing three easy steps – stop, look and listen before crossing the road, even when it's their turn to cross. Making eye contact with drivers to ensure they are seen and avoiding distractions like texting are important tips to help keep kids safe when heading to school.
- Be an alert driver. Posted speed limits in school zones remind drivers to give the road their full attention and to look out for kids who may be preoccupied with friends and not see an oncoming vehicle.
